A Special "Thank you" to: Surgeon Dr. Glenn Deyo (Lakewood, Washington), for helping Keep Michael Alive! Our lives meshed in early March, 2002 and Dr. Deyo has now performed six surgeries for Michael, including a mesal-rectal colon resection and installation of a portable catheter (port) into Michael's chest for subsequent chemotherapy (March 2002), removal of the port (November 2002 -- when we thought Michael was finished with his round of cancer), radio frequency ablation and installation of a 2nd port (April 2003), a 2nd radio frequency ablation surgery (June 2003), a 3rd radio frequency ablation surgery (August 2003), removal of portable catheter (port) (March 2004). There aren't words enough to thank him. We get asked what surgical procedures Dr. Glenn Deyo performs/ specializes in: surgeries related to breast cancer, colo rectal cancers (including, of course, the Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) treatment for tumors), almost any hernias and other internal surgeries (gall bladder, appendix, etc.). Contact his office (253-474-5530) in Lakewood, Washington and discuss your situation--let Dr. Glenn Deyo know that you saw this on the "Keep Blair Alive!" website. We understand from talking to Dr. Deyo that many of you have contacted him to discuss your specific procedures. He suggested that if you do not live locally (Western Washington State, USA) that you may contact hospitals in your area to find out which doctors perform Radio Frequency Ablation Surgeries at the particular hospital. Thanks for keeping us posted on your situation, you have our thoughts and prayers for your wellness.

American Academy of Neural Therapy
Michael's medical and cancer survival journey has included the invaluable work of neurolgist Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, of Bellevue Washington. Michael was seen by Dr. Klinghardt for three consecutive days in late January, 2005, and will have subsequent visits. Dive Tropex Tropical Exposure Fiji, Ltd
We had great expectations for the diving experience we would have in Fiji (May 2004). Fredrich Becker (then Fiji Trendwest Manager) introduced us to the owners, crew and staff of Dive Tropex and then we had the diving experience of our lives. Diving in Fiji was phenomenal. We had the opportunity to experience tweleve dives in 6 days while we were in Fiji--and every one was unique. A DVD CD was made of our dives, and we were presented it on our last day. Members of the crew were experienced, patient (we were afterall, new open water divers), knowledgable and we enjoyed every minute of the experience. Here's my quote: "If your dive Fiji, you should Dive Tropex!" We are grateful and wish to thank:

It has been discovered that Michael has high levels of chronic bacteria (including the dread Clostridiums) which are usually associated with mercury dentalware (fillings). It is quite common in individuals who have any mercury fillings in their mouths. Both good and bacteria live in the mouth, and when the balance is upset to the degree Michael has, bacteria associated with metal dentalware is often the culprit. We have sought the service of Dr. John Fry, DDS. and his team for assistance in removing the mercury fillings and replacing them.We are grateful for their treatments and assistance in this area and wish to thank:

PNW4WDASummer Convention Summer Convention was held in Ethel (off Highway 12) this year. Michael just had surgery on Friday, August 15, so we were unable to attend. I am usually fairly articulate, but when Kathy Martin called and told me about the events over the weekend of the 2003 Summer Convention, I was without words, and when I shared the conversation with Michael, he was ... to say the least, overwhelmed. Kathy shared many stories that occurred during the weekend. They all demonstrate the incredible generosity of many people who attended the Summer Convention event--some of the people involved in the stories don't event know Michael. Michael was nominated for and received the "Bill Hartz Memorial Award" in recognition of superior Sportsmanship shown by a man in the PNW4WDA. Information about this prestigious award can be found on the PNW website. A 50/50 raffle was organized for the weekend and facilitated by members of the Martin Family and members of the Skookumchuck Mud Daubers (thank you, one and all). The winning ticket was to be drawn during "trophies" on Saturday night. Fifty percent of the proceeds were to be awarded to the winner; the remainder was to be donated to the "Donation Account for Michael Blair" held at KeyBank. In a stunning gesture of generosity, the winner (a guest who traveled to the event from Oregon) decided to donate all the proceeds to the Donation account. Bubba (of the Outdoor 4 x 4's) organized an arm wrestling challenge. Bubba won and the proceeds were donated to the Donation account. Thank you!!! Bubba! Many jeepers indicated that they are unable to attend the September 27 event, but that did not keep them from making donations during Convention to the Donation account. In one case, a woman wrote a check for the Donation account, and her husband came by later and matched her donation (names withheld to protect the generous)! Chase Simonson went to his folks vechicle, rummaged about in his personal stuff. He came up with a quarter and was set to donate it, when his dad asked if Chase would be willing to trade the quarter in for a $10 bill. Chase agreed, and prompltly donated the $10. Thank you, to Chase (and to Dan the Dad). At trophies, Bubba appealed to everyone present to make donations to the Donation account; it turned into a sort of club challenge! Various clubs had to see if there was a quorum number of club members present to vote about pledging donations. Incredible! Michael and I had to drop out of racing (thought to be a temporary lapse) a few years ago--mostly for medical/financial reasons (two knee surgeries, back surgery, then cancer). Michael worked feverishly last fall and winter--literally redesigning the race jeep in hopes of racing this season. Then we got the news of Michael's recurrent cancer early in the spring and the project came to a halt. Michael literally packed all the parts, supplies etc. up and put them away, not knowing what our future would be. More incredible news from Summer Convention.... Well, a wonderful group of generous men (Thanks! to Jimmy, Randy, Bob, Rob, Jammer, Dan, Dennis, Denny, Cody, Al ... ) scooped up the in-progress-race-jeep, took it to "Billy-Bobs Off Road & Truck Repair" at its new location in Puyallup where they will finish building the race jeep--literally getting it race-ready for the Nitty Gritty Jeep Club race (Labor Day weekend) in Richland! I also want to personally thank all the wives, and significant others of these great guys. Yes, they were late getting home, but working as a well-oiled team they have the project very near completion (in just days!). So, to the women, "thanks" for your enduring patience with the guys as they worked on this "Monster Garage Project" for us. There aren't enough words for us to thank all of you. Your generosity is truly overwhelming. Michael was tearful and wondered what he had done to have deserved such an incredible show of support (we all know that he just "is"!) Michael and I do not have a roster of names for the attendees at Summer Convention, but we wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your incredible generosity. This is truly a real live case demonstrating Margaret Mead's quote, which is found on the bottom of this website's homepage:
Oh, by the way, I understand that the racing events during the three days were really great also! [Smile] Mike Palandrani

We offer our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to every employee associated with Trendwest -- WorldMark, the Club of Denarau Island, Fiji. See more about this trip of a lifetime at: Fiji! and Dive Tropix The then manager, Fredrich Becker saw to our every want and need and the then Public Relations manager, Sonia Tolbert was captured by our story. Sonia asked me to write a short story about our Fiji adventure. This is what I wrote:
WorldMark Owners since 1998, my husband Michael Blair and I have had wonderful experiences visiting many WorldMark properties around the world, and locally. We hail from Washington State and have visited WorldMark Birch Bay, Mariner Village (Ocean Shores), Leavenworth, Lake Chelan Shores and Seaside Oregon various times for weekend and longer getaways. Michael was diagnosed with non-survivable metastatic color-rectal cancer in April 200. The aggressive cancer spread throughout him and we were told that he would not survive. We have been accomplishing Michael's life list and traveled to various places "For the Health of It!" David Rink has been a friend of Michael's since boyhood, and he and his wife Donna have accompanied us during our travels. We visited WorldMark Cabos San Lucas (October 2003) to celebrate our anniversary. The four of us enjoyed every minute of our stay there. WorldMark Fiji sets the bar on vacation getaways much higher. David and Donna won a wedding-planning-promotional trip to Fiji offered by Trendwest and King 5 Television (Seattle). Donna had helped to plan their son's wedding, entered and subsequently won the on-line Fiji contest. The date was set (May 2004) and we were invited to go. We began reading about Fiji, its history, culture and activities. The four of us invested in SCUBA gear, took classes and became certified divers in preparation for some of the best diving in the world. The day finally came and we arrived at WorldMark Fiji at Denarau Island. There are not enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe our experiences there. The Manager (Frederich Becker, now of WorldMark Camlin, Seattle) ensured that every detail of our stay was attended to. The 2-bedroom unit, located right on the beach, was befitting contest winners. We enjoyed privacy and yet resort activities were only yards away. Our stay was made comfortable and pleasurable by the entire staff including front office staff, activity directors, food and beverage staff, torch lighters, grounds crew and housekeeping. A friendly "Bula" atmosphere rang out throughout the resort. The resort affords many pleasures, including pool activities, kayaking bicycling, daily excursions, shopping, resort owner receptions, fine dining, native fire dance events and the nightly torch lighting ceremonies. Our day-trips away included visiting a wonderful cultural center, a local native village and "The Garden of the Sleeping Giant" (thousands of orchids in one garden). We enjoyed local cuisine and Nadi town afforded shopping and open-air markets. A boat-ride excursion to a nearby island included great food, snorkeling and a native kava ceremony. Frederich personally introduced us to the owners of Fiji's premier diving outfit--Dive Tropex and we experienced twelve incredible dives in six days with their wonderful staff and crew. If you dive Fiji, you should Dive Tropex! What an incredible experience Fiji was! Michael and I are proud to be owners, plan for his survival and hope to visit many other WorldMark properties, including WorldMark Australia as we dive the Great Barrier Reef and WorldMark Daytona as we attend the NASCAR event there. Washington High School Graduating class of 1971 (and other friends) Home/Property Work Parties (April/May 2005)
Many of the members of the First Graduating Class of Washington High School (Parkland/Spanaway--1971--Michael's High School graduating class!) and other friends/family members joined together to paint, make repairs and otherwise prepare our property/home/contents for sale (April 2005). We are grateful to each of these extraordinary people for their contribution of time, elbow grease, supplies, equipment and materials. 4/9/05--Mark Ballman, Dave Rink and Michael's brother Ken pressure washed the garage. 4/23/05--Mark Ballman brought and operated a backhoe and served as "project foreman" for the days' projects. Rick Nylander painted the entire garage a beautiful light blue--before the rains came. Gail Burgum prepared a great lunch and together with Pam Rickert washed and stacked many pots, organized yard tools and equipment, hauled much burnable debris to the burn pile, and basically helped me to get over "string-saving". Bruce Waddell helped tape-off parts not to be painted, assisted Rick with the painting project and kept the fires going, burning the incredible pile of burnable debris and assisted with many other projects. Bryan Guame assisted with most projects, assisted Mark with heavy equipment projects and used the weedeater for hours to reclaim overgrown areas. Mike Beyer joined us after lunch and he swept and inspected the entire roof on the house and provided help wherever it was needed. Everyone pitched in for many long hours. A good time was had by all--despite the intermittent weather. And Michael? he took many naps and popped out occasionally to check on our work. If you would like to help with any of the upcoming work parties--contact Dave Rink. Our heartfelt thanks go to: Mark Ballman, Mike Beyer, Ken Blair, Gail Burgum, Bryan Guame, Pam Rickert, Dave Rink, Rick Nylander, Bruce Waddell. 4/24/05--Mark Ballman continued the heavy equipment work--clearing the rock and soil piles, etc. The look of the grounds was dramatically transformed as a result of his efforts this weekend. Dave and Donna Rink continued the painting work begun by Rick Nylander the day before. With the rolled coat/hand painting from this day--the main painting of the garage is nearly complete. Ron and Maurie Kerns came by and began the planning for the inventory and subsequent sale of gargage items. The sale will be advertised locally and will occur mid to late May. We appreciate the efforts of our friends in helping us to get all this work done, thank you!
Wellcare Pharmaceutical Company Kandi
Thanks to Sammy Medlin, we learned about Artemisinin and its ability to destroy cancer cells. If you, or someone you know and love is suffering from cancer--study the benefits of Artemisinin. THEN get on the phone, talk to Kandi and order some Artemisinin from Wellcare Pharmaceutical. While it is true that you may find another company that sells Artemisinin cheaper, can you trust the potency level? Was the potency level tested by a lab that was not owned by the pharmaceutical company that is selling it? Read Dr. Singh's article and realize the importance of getting 100% pure and potent Artemisinin. We endorse the use of Artemisinin and recommend that you buy it from Wellcare Pharmaceutical. I told Kandi that you would be calling, be sure to let her know that you heard about Artemisinin on the "Keep Blair Alive" website.
